Better boards is an umbrella programme supporting Trustee Boards in Hertfordshire

A comprehensive programme of training and consultancy for trustees, developed to improve the effectiveness of Hertfordshire charities

The HCF Better Boards Programme has been supported by Hertfordshire County Council Adult Care Services since 2019.  The programme aims to support charitable organisations with their governance, as it is widely recognised that well-functioning trustee boards and management committees have clear and productive relationships with the management and staff, provide solid foundations for success and achieve long term sustainability.

There are three strands to the Better Boards Programme:

  • In-house training - 10 hours consultancy and tailored training for an organisation
  • Annual Hertfordshire trustees conference - Wednesday 9 November 2022
  • Action learning sets - a series of peer-to-peer facilitated group sessions for Chairs and CEOs
