Consultancy
Ensuring that our organisations are sustainable and climate-change ready is vital to the voluntary sector in Hertfordshire, however it can be difficult to know where to start.
The Herts Green Impact Fund can fund 1:1 time with expert advisors and consultants to help you on your sustainability journey. Whether you trouble shooting a particular issue or looking for more in-depth support, we can help you.
Grant application support
UK grant funders are increasingly asking applicants to show their environmental sustainability plans — covering things like waste reduction, lower carbon emissions, and environmentally-conscious operations.
Sustainability in your organisation
Areas we support:
Strategy & Purpose: Are you looking to integrate sustainability into your core strategy, but aren't sure how to make it 'business as usual' rather than a side project?
Governance & Policy: Do you need help drafting a meaningful environmental policy that satisfies both your board’s governance requirements and your stakeholder expectations?
Impact & The SDGs: Would you like guidance on how to map your charity's existing projects to the UN Sustainable Development Goals to better communicate your impact to funders and the community?
Turning Ideas into Action: Do you have sustainability ambitions but struggle to move from 'the idea' to a concrete, time-bound action plan?
We can help you embed sustainability into your organisation in a practical, achievable way.

Climate Adaptation & Community Resilience
Areas we can support:
Risk & Vulnerability: Are you trying to work out which of your communities, services or beneficiaries are most exposed to climate impacts, but don't know where to start mapping that risk?
Inclusive Adaptation Planning: Do you need help developing a climate adaptation plan that's genuinely shaped by the people who'll be most affected, rather than written about them?
Community Voice & Lived Experience: Would you like support gathering and centring the real-life experiences of people facing inequality, so their expertise informs your climate response and strengthens your case to funders and decision-makers?
From Planning to Delivery: Do you have a resilience strategy on paper but struggle to translate it into practical, funded action that reaches the people who need it most?
We can help you build climate adaptation and community resilience that's rooted in the people it's meant to serve — practical, inclusive, and built to last.

How does it work?
Consultancy is tailored to your needs, so each experience will be unique.
This is a typical journey:
- Explain your consultancy need to the HCF T&D team. They will access your eligibility for free consultancy and put you in touch with a specialist advisor.
- You will have an initial call with the specialist advisor to share more detail about what it is you need. The advisor will decide the level of support you require and confirm this with the HCF T&D team.
- A scope of service will be agreed and you can now proceed with your consultancy.
- At the end of your consultancy time you will be required to complete a feedback survey for HCF T&D to share the impact of this intervention.
