Course content:

Incorrect manual handling is one of the most common causes of injury at work. In order to prevent handling problems, the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 with required training was introduced. This course is suitable for all staff and volunteers in the voluntary sector.

  • Learn the basic principles and practices of manual handling in the workplace

  • Overview and requirements of the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992

  • Training how to manually handle correctly including the use of any equipment your employer provides, in order to be able to handle loads safety

Learning outcomes

By the end of the this course you will be able to:

  • Explain the importance of good manual handling

  • Identify techniques which can be used to help with lifting, with reference to your workplace

  • Know what to do if a serious back injury occurs
