"Diversity of thought on a Board"

John Arceno; trustee of The Red Shed

John is a trustee at The Red Shed - a dementia charity in Stevenage that provides gardening activities and experiences to benefit people living with dementia, their carers and families. In 2023-2024 John served as the Mayor Consort of Stevenage where he first met The Red Shed.

In his day job John works at Pfizer as a sales representative and he is passionate about reducing healthcare inequalities in the UK for those with blood cancer. John is also a workstream operations lead on Pfizer’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council in Europe.

"The value of young trustees"

Katie Callaghan; founder and chair of trustees at Cards for Bravery

Katie is the founder and Chair of Trustees at Cards for Bravery, a charity she founded at just 13 years old. Katie founded the charity during a long hospital stay, wanting to help other children and young people in a similar position as herself. Now 22, Katie's journey as a young leader has been driven by her personal experiences, inspiring her to create a platform that supports others facing similar challenges.

"Creating a collaborative culture in your Board"

Danny Curtin: Facilitator, coach & advisor

Danny has extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector - from fundraiser to CEO of a national youth charity. He is co-founder of a youth action and advocacy organisation and a former Chair of Trustees of the Association of Chairs. He now works as a coach and advisor to organisations, helping develop their capacity to support more people. We are privileged to have him join our event to share his thoughts on how to strengthen your Board - working with you to consider best practice to govern effectively.
