The Better Boards In-house training programme provides 10 hours of bespoke consultancy and training for voluntary and community organisations in Hertfordshire, providing the key information that trustees and managers need to know. The topics will be explored in an interactive format with practical exercises to ensure they are made relevant and that what is learned can be applied to improve the effectiveness of the participating organisations.

Programme outline:
Part 1: First meeting with your better boards trainer to discuss organisational needs and what to expect from the programme
For established organisations the trainer will spend an hour each with the CEO and Chair. For newly formed organisations the trainer will meet with the current board members/founders.
Part 2: Better boards good governance training
Two interactive sessions of 1.5 hours each with the whole board present.
Part 3: Mid journey assessment
Meeting with the trainers, CEO and Chair to discuss the programme so far and next steps.
Part 4: Tailored better boards consultancy
Choose two bitesize training modules of 1.5 hours for your organisation.
Part 5: Plenary
Final meeting with the trainer, CEO and Chair to reflect on the programme and plan next steps for your organisation.

Eligibility:
The Better Boards programme is funded by Hertfordshire County Council Adult Care Services. The fully funded and subsidised provision is only available to up to ten voluntary and community organisations providing adult social care in Hertfordshire. We also have funding available for a limited number of children and youth service organisations in Hertfordshire (Non-funded cost is £1,350).
Once the subsidised places are full, we may still be able to help you with funding through our Workforce Development Grants.
If you do not qualify for funding (non-VCS organisations) you may be eligible to apply for an HCF Small Grant to cover the cost, please contact us to discuss this further.
