Raise awareness and understanding of sustainability issues

Tailored specifically for VCSE organisations, this Carbon Literacy course from the Carbon Literacy Trust is useful for anyone who wants to know more about the practical actions that they and their organisation can take to reduce their carbon footprint. 

In order to achieve the Carbon Literacy certification you must attend BOTH training sessions, complete the short ‘homework style activities’ prior to each course (e.g. watching videos) and submit ‘action pledges’ via the post course questionnaire.

Course fees: £15 for staff or volunteers from a Hertfordshire Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisation. £35 for non-VCSE organisations, must be based in Hertfordshire and have charitable aims.

  • Climate Change Awareness: Learn the basics of climate change, its causes, and its impacts.

  • Reducing Carbon Footprint: Gain practical tips to lower their personal and organisational carbon emissions.

  • Empowerment for Action: The training will equip you to take meaningful climate action and inspire others.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the this course you will be able to:

  • Have increased understanding and confidence in the behaviour changes needed at a personal and organisational level to address climate change.

  • Support your workplace to become a ‘carbon literate organisation’.

  • Submit personal and organisational ‘action pledges’ to reduce carbon and achieve the Carbon Literacy certification from the Carbon Literacy Trust.

Cancellation terms

If you are unable to attend this course please contact [email protected] with at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel your place. HCF Training & Development reserves the right to keep the course fee and issue an additional fee in the case of non-attendance of this course without proper notice OR failure to submit the action pledges required for the Carbon Literacy certification. Within the 48 hour notice period your course place may be transferred to another eligible individual from your organisation, but not transferred to another course.

Alice Browne

Alice Browne is the Community and Grants Officer at Groundwork East. Alice is experienced at supporting community groups, charities and individuals on: applying for funding; managing volunteers; and, carbon literacy. Outside of work Alice concentrates on climate and nature activism.
